FAQs

Dream Kitchen

Q What is the usual delivery time?

We aim to deliver your doors within 28 working days of processing your payment

Q Will I be able to install the doors myself?

Yes, you probably can. If you can mount shelves on a wall or put up curtain rails you should be OK. But if you are the type of homeowner who would normally have someone in to do these jobs you are probably better to ask one of our professional fitters to do it for you.

Q How long will it take to fit them?

That depends on how large your kitchen is and whether any unforeseen problems are encountered. Professional fitters will probably be able to complete an average kitchen within one day. If you do it yourself it will probably take longer, but remember you can replace the doors and drawers just one at a time and you'll soon get the hang of it.

Q How much will it cost to have them fitted?

That depends on where you live and how large and how complicated the kitchen is. Kitchen fitters charge different amounts per day depending upon where in the country you are (obviously London is the most expensive). Nationally rates vary but £300 per person, per day, appears to be the average.

Replacement KitchensCan you supply doors to fit any unit?

We can. However, in certain exceptional circumstances you will have to discuss your particular needs at our Showroom. For instance, if your doors are not rectangular but have a sloping top, bottom or sides, then they can be made, but through an ancillary product programme.

If you have a corner bi-fold door, that too requires special treatment.

Some kitchens have extremely small spice drawers. The smallest size of drawer/door that we can make is 10cm x 10cm or 4" x 4". There is no practical maximum size.

Is the age of my kitchen important?

No, so long as the cabinets are in good condition it makes no difference whether your doors are metric or imperial sizes.

What if my cabinets also need replacing?

No problem; we also offer colour matched, rigid built cabinets that can be made to measure for any shape and size of kitchen.

Do the doors come with hinges and handles?

No, but we can supply them at a small extra cost. See Accessories.

Is drilling the holes for hinges included in the door price?

No, these are extra additional, and will be drilled to our standard setting of 100mm from the top or bottom of the door to the hinge hole centre's, and 5mm from the side of the door to the edge of the hole. This allows a natural tolerance of 2mm which our three way adjustable hinges will take care of.

Can I buy doors which I can paint myself?

Yes, we can supply most of our door styles with a special finish ready for over-painting or over-spraying. They require no preparation and no undercoat. A top coat by itself will give an excellent finish.
We can also supply doors as raw MDF with the back of the door in paintable white (to prevent swelling).

Real Oak doors are also available in our Contemporary design ready for painting.

Are Excalibur products guaranteed?

All products from the Excalibur range are guaranteed against faulty materials and workmanship for 3 years. Any faults of this nature will show up before then, but it is extremely difficult to guarantee that our products will look pristine and new after 3 years. After all, the kitchen is a tough environment where the furniture and units are prone to being knocked or hit.

To ensure that your kitchen continues to look good, we recommend that you consider the Excalibur Durability Rating before deciding upon an appropriate design for your own particular kitchen.

Replacement Doors

How do I keep Excalibur doors clean?

Modern materials such as vinyls, acrylics and impregnated foils can be kept perfectly clean by cleaning with warm soapy water. Furniture polishes (particularly those containing silicon) should not be used, nor should you use any household cleaner containing an abrasive compound.

What are our terms of payment?

Full pre-payment at time of ordering for all materials and accessories.

Are there any hidden extra costs?

No! After all, you can calculate all of the doors and drawers on this site (see Prices). You might of course want to consider other items such as handles, mouldings, laminate etc., but, once again we publish the exact prices of these and you should budget a little extra for these if you need them.
